This simple program configures your computer with the required network settings for using the Free or Paid AuthenticateMyWiFi service.

Works only with Windows Vista and Windows 7

Installation and removal: This application doesn’t officially install and appear in the programs listing of Windows. To use this program, simply extract the “Wireless Network Profile Creator” folder to your computer. The executable program and related files are contained within that folder.

You can move or copy this folder to a network share or mobile storage device, for example, to import a network profile onto multiple computers.

To remove the program from your computer, simply delete the “Wireless Network Profile Creator” folder.

Before you continue: You should first add the wireless router or AP details and create user accounts in the AuthenticateMyWiFi Control Panel. Plus you should have already configured your APs with the proper encryption and authentication details. This is all explained in the manual.

Then this program will help you configure the computers so you can start connecting to your Wi-Fi network.

How to Use: After you have your AuthenticateMyWiFi account and wireless APs configured, run the executable program (Wireless Network Profile Creator.exe).

Then enter your network settings/preferences:

  • Profile Name: This is the name that will appear when connecting to the network with Windows. Additionally, it serves as the filename for the profile created within the “Wireless Network Profile Creator” directory.

  • Network Name (SSID): This is the name of your wireless network that’s programed on your wireless router or APs.

  • SSID Broadcasting: By default, routers and AP broadcast their name; however most let you disable it to increase overall security. If you haven’t changed this setting on your router or APs, choose Yes. Otherwise, select No if the router or APs aren’t broadcasting their network name.

  • Authentication: Choose the Wi-Fi Protected Access version that’s programed on your wireless router or APs.

  • Encryption: Choose the underlying encryption method that’s programed on your wireless router or APs. The default for WPA is TKIP. The default for WPA2 is AES.

  • Connection Settings: Lets you choose automatic connection settings and specifies if Windows should remember your username and password when logging into your network.

If you click “Just Create”, the profile will be created and stored in a XML file (named by the Profile Name you chose) within the current directory (Wireless Network Profile Creator). Later you can open the program and import the profile into Windows. You can also move the program and profiles around on a flash drive to import it into multiple computers.

If you click “Create and Import”, it will do just that. It will save the profile to a XML file with in the same directory and import it into Windows.
